Happy New Years! I hope everyone survived the holiday season. I had a hectic but fun Christmas with family. Andrew and I got a little plastic tree and decorated it with keychains and other stuff found in the apartment. Then we made a bunch of reusable furoshiki cloths to wrap presents with. I was inspired by my friend, Dan, who last year told me how his family had a huge stash of fabric bags they swapped along with gifts. I hope we'll eventually get a big stockpile as well and inspire my family to join us in reducing paper waste.

Meanwhile, I was cleaning and emptying out closets and I found a bunch of half-done, half-forgotten projects. I finished as many as I could while visiting cousins: quick pillow cases, a key ring display, a cute bag and matching case for my DS, plus small hammocks/beds for my pet rats (not pictured). It felt really satisfying.

In fact, it was so satisfying, I'm not yet ready to get back to updating comics. My work hours are still sporadic and these smaller side projects fit well into my uneasy schedule. It's completely selfish and horrible of me but I'm going to stay in hiatus longer. Sweet and Sour Grapes is still very important to me and I have every intention of coming back to it but I'm afraid of naming another date and then breaking that promise. I'm just going to say the next page will be sometime... this... spring? Thank you for reading my comic this far and for your continued patience and understanding.

tldr: Christmas was great, hiatus will continue. T_T

The huge sale after Thanksgiving at my work was a grotesque success. Which means I still get to work extra long hours packing and shipping out orders. Yay, money~ Additionally I've postponed some chores around the apartment for so long that I was starting to dislike my own home. So I'm setting aside time to clean and actually get rid of stuff. Yay, livability~

All this means I've had no time to draw and have barely started the next page. Since I'm not sure when my work hours will calm down, and since I know of some ambitious holiday plans coming up, I'm going to aim for the next page to go up January 2nd, 2012. I feel bad that my poor comic has to wait so long but we'll make it through this. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.

Bwa~ I don't know how some of my peers manage to work 40 hours a week and draw a comic. They must be super humans because I am definitely struggling. Let's hope my schedule will calm down next month and I can get the next page up December 5th. *crosses fingers* *falls asleep*

Hooray, it's a page!

Just a heads up, I'll be clocking a lot of hours at my part-time job this month since they are having a monstrous sale. So I think the next page will be ready in two weeks. That's a horribly long time from now so I'd like to remind everyone that I announce new pages on RSS (a personal fav of mine), Twitter, G+, and Facebook. Hopefully you can save yourself the effort of remembering specifically when new pages come out by following me on one or more of those.

In other news, I have been watching the devoted gamers over on Indie Games for Good since Friday afternoon. They're raising money for the Child's Play charity with their marathon game playing while promoting all sorts of independent games. It's awesome seeing all these great titles that I would've completely missed out on and they're basically writing my Christmas wish list for me. XD So far they've raised enough money to play until Monday afternoon. Might end up going longer though, the donations keep pouring in. Poke your head in and cheer them on!

Happy Halloween, everyone! I've got some cat ears I plan to wear all day but that's about it. Got awesome costumes and adventures planned? Tell me about them and let me live vicariously through youuu~

Even though I didn't manage to finish a comic page this week, there are a couple of things I can share. First, I got one of my more detailed fan arts yet from my friends, Dan and Adwarr. Lae and Tamal look like action heroes in that dark and scary jungle. Very appropriate for Halloween. :D Second, I wrote a quick post about how I assemble color palettes over on my comic collective's web site, Open Fire! I reminisce about new crayons and share two palette-building shortcuts I use a lot.

Thank you for all the kind words last week; I have such patient and caring readers. <3 I'm slowly recovering from all that stress. Hopefully one day my art can support me but this part time job will work for now.

Since Harper asked about a donation button we threw together something simple. It's in the sidebar above my Twitter updates. I know funds are tight for everyone so please feel no pressure to send money. But should you decide to tip us, we won't say no to some extra money for groceries. :)

Yay! The gang has reached the plains! I've looked forward to drawing this page for a long time.

I've been pretty quiet on the blogging front because I want to keep Sweet and Sour Grapes fun and happy and I've mostly been stressed and distracted. >_< However, you all are due for a real update from me. I'll try to keep it short.

The reason I've been able to put so much effort into this comic is because my wonderful husband has been supporting me. He believes Sweet and Sour Grapes is a story deserving to be told just as much as I do and if it weren't for him, I'd probably be lagging out on the first chapter. We live very frugally but in the current economy this isn't enough anymore. I'm going to help make ends meet by starting a part-time job this week. This may mean a missed update here and there depending on my schedule but I'll always be sure to let you know what's going on in my Twitter. Thank you so much for your patience as I get used to this.

Along those same lines, I'm not confident that I'll be able to finish the Halloween costume vote incentives in time. It's really fun dressing my characters up from other worlds and I plan on finishing at least Lae and Silas but not at the expense of new pages. So... these last vote incentives will probably be late, my apologies.

And last a quick memorial for Poppy and Cashew. I've recently had to put two of my furry companions to sleep because of their old age and failing health. I know many people aren't fans of rats but I loved them a lot and their absence is heart breaking to me. They took many naps with me as I planned SSG pages and were at my side when this site first launched. Rest in peace, lovely ladies.

Space Cowgirl has launched!

Tyson Sukeforth, founder of the Webcomic Study Group, fellow member of the Open Fire! collective, and my good friend, officially launched his comic! I've watched him develop this project for over a year and it's very exciting to finally be able to share it. There are a few strips up on the site to get us started. Go check them out!

*Additional news!*
It's totally October already! I'm scrambling around a bit over here but I'll be drawing SSGrapes characters in Halloween costumes all month. I just finished Moani and put her in the vote incentive. Look forward to the rest!

Avast! Thar be two things worth celebratin' lately.

First off, today be Talk Like a Pirate Day. So don't be a land lubber, let loose some Arrrr's and Aye's for fun and join the silliness. Second, a new season of Me Bonny Pony My Little Pony has started up and the first episode is already on youtube. This week's vote incentive rigs the two events together into what me thinks a piratical pony would look like. Enjoy, mateys!

I had a festive weekend thanks to a couple birthdays. My husband and two pets have all completed another loop around the sun. My sweet old ladies reached 3 years, which is super old for rats. Here are Poppy and Cashew irritated that I woke them up:

My husband reached 30 years old, also kind of a big deal. Money's tight so we didn't do anything elaborate for the occasion but hanging out with family is always a pleasure. We had an unreasonable amount of cake and played tabletop games. :)
