Lae runs towards the older Qwara boy, ignoring Kaga laughing right next to her for a moment.
Lae: YOU LITTLE MONKEY!
SFX: HA HA HA
At the last second, Lae turns and tags Kaga's shoulder. Silas is by Kaga's feet and jabs a bolt of energy into the prince's leg.
Kaga: <i>OH!</i>
SFX: TAG HA HA STAB
The prince falls to the deck with great drama, his leg is numb and tingling.
SFX: THUMP HA HA HA
Kaga: <i>NOOO!</i> JUMA, YOU MUST <i>AVENGE</i> ME!
The younger boy taunts Lae from the other end of the porch.
Juma: CAN'T CATCH ME!
Silas (ghost): SEND ME MORE ENERGY!
Lae (ghost): DON'T USE IT ALL AT ONCE!
Vidya and Gyan watch the game from the sidelines.
SFX: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Vidya (ghost): SILAS IS A FAST LEARNER.
Gyan (ghost): LAE TOO.
Vidya (ghost): THEY'LL PROTECT OUR PRINCE JUST FINE.
Gyan changes his appearance to look young again.
SFX:POP
Gyan (ghost): AH~ TO BE YOUNG AGAIN...
The ghost's focus is thrown off the porch to the jungle floor again and Gyan falls after it.
SFX: HA HA HA HA HA

Whew! This was a hard page to draw! 21 figures running around and laughing... At least Vidya is super easy to draw from behind.

I wrote my entire script out two years ago which makes me feel a bit like two different people. There's past-me, the writer, and present-me, the artist. Dividing the labor up this way has helped me focus on each job more. It's fun getting mad at past-me for writing visually challenging scenes like today's page but I trust past-myself to have a better understanding of the flow of the whole story than present-me so I follow her directions anyways. Oh, and I shouldn't forget about future-me, the comic rockstar. I leave a lot of work for future-me to deal with but she can handle it. She's a rockstar.

Speaking of future work I need to do, today's page marks the end of book one! I need to prepare for book two and tidy up book one for eventual printing so I'm going to take another short break. Additionally, I'm going to try updating on Mondays from now on to try and get better advertising numbers. What this means for you, my lovely audience, is the next Sweet and Sour Grapes comic will be Monday, June 6th. Mark your calendars or sign up for my RSS feed!

Gyan seems to like getting tossed by Vidya . . . unless he's just being a troll.

I just caught up and have been loving all the new info about what ghosts can do and how they fit into the story. Very cool! And ha ha, I love your dissection of your three selves. Can't wait to meet your rockstar self! :D

Yay! I've been waiting a long time to explain ghost abilities and it's great to finally reveal them.

Ah~ if only I were already a rockstar... Multi-lingual, athletic, and famous... I'll get there one day. XD

      Hi.

I've known about your comic for a long time. I picked up a postcard at New England Webcomics Weekend. But I finally--FINALLY--took a day out to read it all. I love this story very much.

So many characters of color! Such rich mythology! I'm looking forward to many more chapters--keep up the good work!

Thanks for reading, Darryl! NEWW was such an awesome show. I also picked up a bazillion postcards and have been slow at checking them all out. I'm very grateful you were able to get to mine. :D
