Tamal scratches the floor of the cave with a rock. He makes a rough map with a rock placed for Haichenja and a coin marking Tashoni.
SFX: SKRTCH SKRTCH
Tamal: HAICHENJA, THIS ROCK HERE, IS SURROUNDED BY JUNGLE. THEY'LL CATCH US EASILY.
Kaga: I SEE. THE COIN IS TASHONI. HMM.
He sits back to think. The grouchy guard growls at his prince.
Tamal: I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING AND I AM AGAINST IT.
Kaga: CHANGING IS BETTER THAN DYING.
Tamal: THE IDEA ALONE MAKES ME QUEASY.
The prince gestures towards Lae.
Kaga: WHAT DO YOU THINK, LAE? IF WE CUT THROUGH THE JUNGLE, WE CAN USE NAWENJA'S ROAD TO THE CAPITAL.
Kaga places a second rock on their map. It's not in the jungle like Haichenja but a just shy of the edge.
Lae: MAKES SENSE.
Kaga: SO YOU CAN GUIDE US?
Lae: WAIT, I'M A PILGRIM GUIDE. NOT A FUGITIVE GUIDE.
Silas looks a little uneasy that Lae isn't interested in helping.

We had another family craft camp last weekend. I love being able to learn new skills and watch other people's projects evolve. This time I attempted to sew a sundress for the upcoming warm weather. It needs some more fitting before I'll be able to wear it easily but I learned how to install a zipper! We also got a crash course on resin casting the last day.

Now if only I could attend a comic camp! Being around other creatives gives me confidence to challenge myself because I know I can ask for advice when I get stuck. And nothing gets me inspired faster than seeing other people's work. It's too bad I don't know enough local cartoonists to organize something like this myself.

Webcomics.com swoops in to fill the gap! I recently signed up for this educational site for $30, the price of a haircut. While a little shaggier than usual, I'm am super happy to be able to participate in their lively forums. The enthusiasm in there is really uplifting and the information and tips are thought-provoking. I ended up in an info-overload coma when I foolishly tried to catch up on all their articles and forum threads in one sitting . To be honest, I'm not a fan of the cumbersome interface, but that's not enough to keep me from recommending other aspiring comic creators give Webcomics.com a try. This isn't a resource you want to miss out on.

I like the earnest expression on Kaga's face in the second to last panel. He looks like a nice guy caught in a bad situation.

Such a hopeful and optimistic prince. Things won't always go your way, Kaga...
