Original script:
Lae is rooting through some metal boxes. She is filling pouches with sparkling black powder. The room is partially below ground. A half window near the ceiling gives light. Silas comes down through the ceiling. When Lae sees him, she holds up a pouch for his inspection but Silas seems lost in thought.
Lae: THIS IS WHAT I MAKE MY FIRE SHOWS FROM. ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?
Silas: I KNEW MY HOME WOULD BE TARGETED. BUT TO SEE THE RESULTS...
He shakes his head to get focused.
Silas: LAE, THERE'S A BIG CAT FOLLOWING YOU.
Lae: A CAT? WHAT'S IT LOOK LIKE?
Silas: UHM, SPOTTED WITH LONG HAIR ON ITS TAIL.
Lae: THAT'S NOT JUST ANY BIG CAT. THAT'S A LION!
Silas (thinking): LIONS HAVE CHANGED A BIT...
Lae sweeps the pouches into her backpack and exits the dim room into a darker hall.
Lae: LET'S GO. THEY ALWAYS HUNT IN PACKS.

We visited my husband's extended family in Washington for their periodic Craft Camp last weekend. I feel so lucky to have married into a family of such enthusiastic crafters and sweet pets. Everyone brought their own projects to work on but we also shared supplies and tried new techniques out. Personally, I've always wanted to learn how to appliqué but never had enough confidence to just dive right in. Surrounded by quilters though, I had multiple teachers and plenty of advice to get me through my first small wall hanging.

Afterwards I got started on a paper craft prototype of Nulu. She is a little more complicated than Silas and Lae but I will do my best to make easy to understand directions for her.

Whoa, that's a cool looking cat! These lions look interesting, I wonder how much they've changed!

Nice wall hanging! It's always fun learning a new craft. Glad you had a great time. And I'm as curious as Silas about what's up with the "lion." Can't wait for next week's page!

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad the lion has sparked people's interest. I've been studying mountain lions lately so I could draw this one better.
