Happy New Years! I hope everyone survived the holiday season. I had a hectic but fun Christmas with family. Andrew and I got a little plastic tree and decorated it with keychains and other stuff found in the apartment. Then we made a bunch of reusable furoshiki cloths to wrap presents with. I was inspired by my friend, Dan, who last year told me how his family had a huge stash of fabric bags they swapped along with gifts. I hope we'll eventually get a big stockpile as well and inspire my family to join us in reducing paper waste.
Meanwhile, I was cleaning and emptying out closets and I found a bunch of half-done, half-forgotten projects. I finished as many as I could while visiting cousins: quick pillow cases, a key ring display, a cute bag and matching case for my DS, plus small hammocks/beds for my pet rats (not pictured). It felt really satisfying.

In fact, it was so satisfying, I'm not yet ready to get back to updating comics. My work hours are still sporadic and these smaller side projects fit well into my uneasy schedule. It's completely selfish and horrible of me but I'm going to stay in hiatus longer. Sweet and Sour Grapes is still very important to me and I have every intention of coming back to it but I'm afraid of naming another date and then breaking that promise. I'm just going to say the next page will be sometime... this... spring? Thank you for reading my comic this far and for your continued patience and understanding.
tldr: Christmas was great, hiatus will continue. T_T

The huge sale after Thanksgiving at my work was a grotesque success. Which means I still get to work extra long hours packing and shipping out orders. Yay, money~ Additionally I've postponed some chores around the apartment for so long that I was starting to dislike my own home. So I'm setting aside time to clean and actually get rid of stuff. Yay, livability~
All this means I've had no time to draw and have barely started the next page. Since I'm not sure when my work hours will calm down, and since I know of some ambitious holiday plans coming up, I'm going to aim for the next page to go up January 2nd, 2012. I feel bad that my poor comic has to wait so long but we'll make it through this. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.

Bwa~ I don't know how some of my peers manage to work 40 hours a week and draw a comic. They must be super humans because I am definitely struggling. Let's hope my schedule will calm down next month and I can get the next page up December 5th. *crosses fingers* *falls asleep*

Youch! Doth I sense a little yahakre prejudice on Lae's part. Curious to see how that will take form. Also, WORLDBUILDING, yay! I love the development of histories and settings. I just love character development, and settings, in a sense, have a kind of character of their own.
Yessss~ world building is SO FUN. And I also think of my settings as characters. :D

She must have met quite a few mean yahakre if she's forgotten Tamal was kind of a jerk BEFORE he got turned into a minotaur.
Lae has opinions and only sees the things that reinforce those opinions. T_T
Hey now lass... not all of our transformed yahakre are bad. Does she not remember the comic's first, a now purple kitty Nunu (or was it Lulu?), that was still a nice and shy... person?.... after her transformation?
Lae has conveniently forgotten every kind and reasonable yahakre she's met but I'm glad you remember Nulu. I swear she WILL come back into the comic. XD
Ah! So both of my guesses were half correct. And I just noticed the smiley face you put on the dam, nice subtle touch.
I'm sorry, can't make a decent post. Too busy staring at awesome perspective drawing. o.o
Haha, thank you. And I was too busy with holidays to make a timely reply.
Theski's Great Dam is amazing awesome!
I wanna like... build it as a level in a game or something.
Though I must admit, for a "great" dam it isn't that big.
It's not the biggest dam from Silas' time, but it is the biggest dam near Theski. And it would be insane to see this built into a minecraft scene or something similar. o_o
A week later I realize I should have said it's too dam small.
And speaking of a week later, where's the new dam page?
If I had to guess, I'd say that it's hiding.. in space. And is still recovering from Thanksgiving.
I had hoped to finish the next dam page by Monday, but that's looking impossible. Work and holidays didn't leave me enough time. I'll write a news post about what's up.
Dam it.
WOOO! Hiatus!- wait, that's not good news at all. Oh, well. Life comes first, especially since Christmas is drawing ever nearer. I'm just glad you told us you were puttin' it on hold. There are some webcomics that won't even do that. Have a very merry Christmas, Diana, and have some fun with the family, friends, and or whoever you hang out with.
I should've replied sooner but by the time I was free enough, an embarrassing amount of time had passed. Shamed, I kept putting it off and just made it worst. T_T There is a lesson here...
But really, thank you for the well wishes, SOUP. I hope you had a great Christmas/holiday too.
I'm sad to hear the hiatus is continuing, since I love your story, but I can totally understand. I haven't gotten back to writing yet either. The job (teaching, in my case) continues to get in the way for me too. I'll be looking forward to when you get back to it, though!
The 18 year old living in my head is really frustrated and mad at me for not working on our dreams. I'm going to need to make sacrifices for her soon.
Creativity is probably even harder for you since you're taking care of actual kids.
So how's everyone doing?
I'm doing pretty good. Learning a lot about printed comics at my work. Starting to see the appeal of single issues but the superhero part has yet to win me over. You?
I'm fine and playing many video games. :)
Well.
:U Yay!
