This indoor night scene is driving me crazy! I can't do my usual bright, cheerful colors. I'm doing my best to keep it from looking dull but with dim light, gray walls, and a sparse room there's only so much I can do. After this chapter I get to be colorful again so I'm looking forward to that.

Lately it's been very difficult for me to get comics out on time. Part of it is the summer break mentality taking over but I'm also putting a lot more detail and thought into each page. I think it was the Webcomics Weekly Podcast that said first new cartoonists get good at what they do, then they get fast, and then finally they get good and fast. I may just be in that first step.
It's important to me to release quality pages but I also don't want to have a bunch of late or missed comics. So I'm going to drop back to one comic a week for a while as I improve my craft. I also need to do a little work on some back burner projects like the second font I'm working on and some basic website features I've been putting off.
The next comic will be Friday the 26th and following comics will be released every Friday.

This page is late but I'm pretty happy with it. A while ago, when I had my comic critqued at the Stumptown Comic Festival, I was told to put as much effort into my backgrounds as I put into my character designs. It really struck a chord as I love exploring interesting new areas in real life. So I will be doing my best to make the locations I show you in SSGrapes distinctive and fun.
